I had someone contact me to start them on a fitness plan in hopes of getting back in shape. They said the pictures from a fitness shoot I did were really inspiring and they wanted abs like that and that those images were what "being fit" meant to them. This isn't the first time I've gotten this reaction. It makes me so happy to inspire, makes me feel amazing! Getting the chance to help someone change for the better and reach their full potential is what it's all about.
Having said that, I want to inspire people in a healthy way that's honest and realistic. So let's explain that a little here... The process I went through to achieve the results pictured here was not from a regular fitness program and well balanced meal plan. I made a goal to get in the best shape of my life and compete for the first time to see what I could mentally and physically endure. I hired an expert coach who specializes in nutrition for fitness competitions and pushed myself to the limit. The results were amazing! I had gotten in the best shape of my life! A rockin'' bod six pack and all. But that comes with a cost that not everyone realizes. That type of discipline takes over your life while you're in it. I had less time with friends (barely any really). Early to bed, early to rise (weekends included) No booze, no sugar, NO EXCEPTIONS. Not on weddings, birthdays (including my own) No dining out. Hours of food prep multiple times per week. Packing a cooler for every time you leave the house because you can't skip meals. Every 3 hours EXACTLY as your meal plan states. Food is measured and weighed and you eat the same thing every day sometimes for weeks and even months. By the time you shop, prep, eat, exercise and get your proper rest there isn't much time left. This isn't even taking into account that you have a job and a family. Not exactly a balanced way of living is it? Now, I'm not knocking competition life. I loved the process and the competition and plan on doing it again but I realize what needs to be sacrificed in order to do so. I also understand that my coach will help get me to where I need to be for the competition. I will have that super lean physique for a short time and once it's over we slowly start getting my body fat up to a healthy level again. I walk around about 10-15 pounds heavier than what is pictured here. This is where I feel the best and have the energy needed to live such an active life. I also like to live and eat and socialize, so keeping that lean all the time just isn't realistic. I don't want people seeing those pictures and other images in fitness magazines thinking they are doing something wrong if they don't look like that. I want to help people with their health but not in a way that is misleading or compromises my integrity. I'm hoping by sharing this that it sheds some light for anyone that thought I walked around daily with wash board abs. (If I did I would be one miserable, hangry, friendless biatch)

**WEEKLY CHECK IN**
Had a great week this week! Energy was good, allowing me strong, intense workouts. We added bike sprints to replace my treadmill sprints and my nutrition guru, Janine made small adjustments with my meals. After having a week of maintaining (last week) This week I dropped 1/2 inch on the waist and 4 lbs on the scale. It's not about extremes. It's about consistency and intensity. Stick with your plan and give 110% of yourself to your time in the gym. The results might not come right away but be patient and don't stop. They WILL come! 4 more weeks to see what I can do. #personalbests #janinemuttonnutrition #dontstop #justlivebetter Our society and media spend so much effort trying to instill us with fear of aging and growing older. What if instead, we embraced aging as a privilege and became focused on building a stronger body and mind. That way when we do reach our wise golden years we can truly appreciate and enjoy them to the fullest.
Look at the arms and flexibility on this beautiful lady!! I'm working on having AND keeping that!:-) #fitforlife #trainwithpurpose #justlivebetter Take the time today to make sure you reach your goals this week. It's not going to just happen. Blast your favourite music and the time flies!

No need to live off fish and spinach to get the job done.
