![]() This isn’t a topic I have openly discussed with many. I’m a pretty private person and unless we’re really close you definitely wouldn’t know this about me. However, I believe very strongly that in life we struggle with issues in order to overcome them, learn lessons, then ultimately share our experiences to help others. This topic just keeps coming up with so many people I come in contact with. I’m thinking it’s a good sign that it’s time to share. Fitness for me has always been much more about my mind than my body. I struggled with anxiety both general and social for years. It started in late elementary school and brought me some rough days. I had no idea where this strange feeling was coming from or what I was going to do to get my old self back. Fortunately, I found the connection between exercise and releasing excess energy (anxiety). This was huge for me and helped relieve most of my symptoms. Once I took it one step further and added in the right diet, sleep and hydration my anxiety became totally manageable. I barely ever have to think about it anymore. The odd time I start to feel it creep back in, I take control. I can take all that shit to the gym or run it out on the road. I strongly encourage anyone who struggles with similar feelings to never underestimate how much control and power you have just by taking care of the basics. It can become incredibly empowering to overcome something that threatens to tear you down. I’m proof that it’s not hopeless. I went from at my worst, being scared to leave my house to go to school to where I am now. If you’re struggling…I hope this helps <3 Health and Happiness, Jenny XO

This was a great read and sounds so much like my own inner dialog at times. We tend to put the focus on training, getting stronger, pushing harder, while leaving the post workout care and stretching out until after we've already encountered a problem.
When taking time out for injuries is the last thing anyone wants to do, taking the 5 minutes after a workout or throwing an hour of yoga into your week seems like a small price to pay for injury prevention and increased mobility. #stretchingforthewin http://www.mensfitness.com/training/pro-tips/stretch-or-die This year skip the chocolates and show your body some real love. Bootcamp series starting February 15th. Perfect gift for yourself, your Valentine or better yet...come get hot and sweaty together! **spaces limited** held at AreYouGame Conditioning Club Inc. They have done a full out over haul and committed 100% to a better life. Together they have followed their meal plan to a tee, committed to working out together at home and bring everything they have to their weekly gym sessions with me. The results...are incredible! Strength, form and endurance have all improved dramatically and the weight and inches are coming off! All this in only 4 weeks AND over Christmas. So proud and happy for these two. Great example for their two daughters. Can't wait to see where we are in another 4 weeks. Jenny xo As some of you already know, I am taking the stage this April and competing in another figure competition. Everyone seems to have the same reaction when it comes to the idea of competing - that It must take such will power, discipline, and sacrifice when it comes to dieting.
Yes, it can be a test and a pain in the ass some days but it all depends how you look at it; This is how I choose to look at it:
I would be pretty embarrassed to go to another country where even fresh water is scare and complain about the grueling process and "sacrifice" of competition life. Just something to think about - not just for competing, but anytime you are limiting your food options to move yourself towards a goal. I know reminding myself of how incredibly fortunate I am helps move me along on the tough days. #blessed #positiveoutlook #wegotitdamngood #justlivebetter Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my life this year both old and new. It has been an incredible year for personal and professional growth and I am so very grateful to wake up excited for this life of mine every day! I have had so many helping hands along the way, I am blessed to know you all.
I haven't always been in this grateful happy place in life. I've learned many lessons and had many dark days too. It's because of those lessons and darker days of struggle that I am where I am and can fully appreciate all the light in my life today. Moving into 2016 I want to help as many people as possible over come what holds them back and show them that they are in charge of themselves and all of their choices. Building a rock solid foundation of physical and mental well being is the first step to living a life you love and becoming your authentic self. Here's to 2016 and making new connections, building new friendships and creating better lives. #2016 #newyearnewyou #justlivebetter #purpose #creatingfromtheheart Make sure that during all the hustle you make time for the things that keep you happy and healthy. For me it's my gym time. My mental well-being depends on it just as much as my physical. Today I made sure I went and made friends with this guy... I was out for a Christmas office lunch yesterday and my daughter joined us. We had a great meal and an amazing dessert menu to choose from. We shared an incredible nutella smore cheesecake type creation; It did not disappoint - was pure deliciousness! So decadent and rich, in fact, that between two of us we couldn't finish it. I told my daughter, "You know it's a great choice when you can't even finish it." She had never thought of it that way.
This sparked an entire quality over quantity discussion. That dessert was so rich that you really didn't need much to feel satisfied. I told her this was how I choose my treats, cheats, indulgences or whatever you want to call them. Instead of mindlessly eating an entire bag of M&M's while watching a movie why not have something worth while like a piece of your Mom's homemade apple pie, enjoyed with your family instead of alone on the couch. Taking this mindset into the holidays, you will likely be going to lots of gatherings where there's constant buffets of everything! We are beyond spoiled with the amount of food we have available to us during this season. You don't have to be the buffet hero and let the wheels fall off, derailing all your progress. Pick a few of your favourite holiday treats and really enjoy and appreciate them. Try practicing mindful consumption this year and avoid the pain of regret come January 1st. Merry Christmas All! Hope you all enjoy the holidays to the fullest ♥ Jenny xo ![]() Hi all, Kelly here... (if you don't know who I am, I'm legit part of 'the Team') I'm working with Jenny to get this website launched for all of you to enjoy - A very exciting time for J.L.B Fitness! While looking through all of Jenny's pictures from the Photo Shoot with Alex Filion earlier this year, I happened to come across this one... and smiled. Then quickly my smile turned to frustration when I realized this picture, unfortunately, would never make it onto the core website... so I had an idea to hijack Jenny's blog so this picture would be seen by more than just Jenny, myself, and Alex. And why was this so important? It's quite simple.... This is my favourite picture of Jenny. Not just from this shoot, but ever (even more than the one of us in tutu's when we were 12!).... This picture IS Jenny. Let me explain... I had the pleasure of accompanying Jenny for this photo shoot adventure all the way in Sudbury, ON (so fun! but that's a whole other blog post). This picture, as you can see by the background, was not intended [note: the lighting equipment and backdrop in the distance]... We were taking a break, when Jenny went to look out the studio window - admiring the view. Alex saw something... I saw something.. and now you get to see something.. This picture is raw.. #nofilter as the trendsetters would say... no posing.. no 'smile for the camera'... no best angles.. no 'hands here... chin up.. flex that'... just genuine Jenny... (okay yes, she still had on makeup... and see her post 'Time for Some Truths' on Nov 9, 2015) Out of over 500 pictures... this is my favourite because THIS is Jenny.. she is a naturally beautiful, witty, supportive, motivating, happy, down to earth, and glass-half-full kinda girl.... and I'm so lucky to have her in my life... (even after hours and hours... and more hours of looking at 500+ pictures of her in barely any clothing). Those of you who know her, already know her awesomeness... Those of you who have yet to know her, will soon find out for yourselves... Kelly xox [note to Alex - the other pictures are awesome too! laughs.. Just something about this impromptu shot... the natural beauty of it.. of her] |
